    Thanks for the welcome-back chaps :)

    Will now spend the next few days looking to see which threads interest me most and on which I might have comment to offer.

    I'm particularly interested (and delighted) to note that Otto has preserved the old gallery, lazy bugger that I am, it makes it easier for me to show an image when it helps the context of a story.

    Finally, in the fond hope that with the new server the gremlins have all departed, I hope that I will now have more incentive to spend time on the site.

    Best regards to all my old friends here.

    Ron

    This sounds great, it's all progessive and the move should take several weeks at least, but you can already note the changes on a daily basis.

    We have successfully generated a test forum with the all posts fully migrated. The testing continues, but I think the move will be very comprehensive in terms of all the info you see here today, signatures, likes, private messages, etc. I'm very pleased so far.

    @Otto:

    I believe our new Invision Forum will allow all moderators to merge (combine) similar threads;
    - or to split off posts into the thread they belong in;
    - or to split off posts into new freshly re-titled threads, ... and:
    - to move posts and / or threads into the proper forum they belong to.

    @Otto = Is that correct?

    I've been browsing Invision Forums and this seems to be the case at their forums such as these publicly viewable ones:

    Fred, It's not a matter of Invision, it's a matter of what permissions the mods are given. We'll be completely revamping the forums after the migration to IPB which will include what the admins/mods/trustees are able to do.

    If we are looking at how Invision based ww2f.com might look now: [IMG]
    On the main page:
    1: Hottest Threads and Latest Posts columns need to be wider

    2. Posted By column could be much narrower

    3. The two side bars could be removed entirely (best)
    - or made much, much narrower.

    PS Otto:
    Could I send you like 200 more Emoticons? [IMG]
    Tnx Otto. Awesome Good to see you back, and this active again! [IMG]

    Thanks all for the support.

    So, our testing has wrapped up and we've only had one minor problem, your avatars will not map over. Most everything else will migrate, but who really cares, avatars are easy to restore. I've edited the first post in this thread to indicate the progress. We may be moving as soon as Thursday, May 7th (tomorrow), during the process we will be down about a day. I'll double check the schedule and make a dedicated thread once I am sure of timeframe

    Sure use the email in my sig. It is sincerely awesome to be back, I was inactive for a long time and I'm trying to make up for lost time.

    Thread unpinned as migration is complete. A new feature/feedback thread will be created to manage feature requests.
