    Good morning everyone.
I am new to this forum, but it looks the most informed.
I have been trying to get my Fathers records from the Second world war. My Mother had a mental breakdown and destroyed all the paperwork.
He fought in Africa as a Desert Rat but thats all the info I know(he never talked about it)

My Father "Leslie Simmonds" has beed dead now for fourty years. My cousin has just recently given me the two files attached. Do these mean anything to anyone.
    Any clues would help.
    He has:
    The Defence Medal
    The 1939 - 1945 Medal
The Africa Star - 8th Army
    The Italy Star
    The 1939 - 1945 Star
    Regards
    Steve
Very sorry will not let me upload postcards - can someone send SOP on how to to send url

    Hi Steve,

welcome to the Forum! It takes some time til you are able to post pics, but i´m sure someone can tell you how long it takes. Your Dad has been a good soldier for those awards. My Grandpa was at Africa too but on the other side with the "Brigade Ramcke".
I´m sure that someone can help you! Do you have nothing more, like the Regiment or else?

    Good luck to you!

Royal Fusiliers were allocated numbers 6446001 to 6515000. 6479625 is his regimental number. Quote it if you decide to get his army service details.
British Army service allocation numbers, 1920 to 1942. They changed to general numbers after 1942. http://www.northeastmedals.co.uk/mm/army_service_numbers.htm

I think this could mean "Z company, 8th Royal Fusilier".
