so far my KM cloth Coastal Artillery pieces And my Nebeltruppe Oberfahnrich tunic. I have been downsizing my collection and sold many pieces off to get me started on KM. Also have a work tunic of the KM and the dickie. Cant find pic of that at the moment. Cheers Herr
Quite original, you don't see KM collections everyday. The items must be hard to find and expensive too
Hi Herr, i'm glad to see you over here at my "other home," and showing off some of your stuff. Glad to see another Gentleman join this site. PS, for Skipper, he'll soon have some more KM stuff to show off after I can send the items to him. The stuff im going to be sending him hasn't been shown on any site yet-cept for the respective sites I bought them off of ;-))
Speaking of a dickie. You might want to ask Frank about the mint one I sent to him about a year or so ago. This one is named in red lettering to an Eckert. I got this one from Black Cross Militaria-about 10 or so years ago. Anyway, I don't know if Frank still needs it or not? but you might want to ask him and see if he wants to sell or trade it? Take care and best regards-von-Roon ;-))
Hey Carl Thanks ! Not too sure if I want another collar dickie at the moment, but thanks for the tip ! It was standard regulation in the Kriegsmarine to sew your name on your items. My dickie belonged to a Bornecke. Cheers Herr
Hello Skipper Cloth is quite common, except for some pieces (eg standard bearers patch) but as in other areas of collecting, some pieces are really hard to get or you pay an arm and a leg for it. And anything related to U-boats , well , it tripples the price. Kriegsmarine is indeed not collected near enough as Luftwaffe or SS. Cheers Herr
Hi Herr, No prob ;-)) and quite welcome. Also, thanks for teaching me something I didn't know about KM stuff. Gotta run but will be back tomorrow--C.
I found this link interesting for KM interested people. It is an American coastal artillery re-enactment group KKA Training Manual Also the books of Angolia, Uniforms and traditions of the Kriegsmarine are good reference. I for one am still hunting for volume 1 for a fair price. Cheers Herr
as we have chatted in the past the Angolia volume 1 may be found on antique book dealerships. If Angolia knew this he would laugh his head off, but his volumes all sold out in no-time at all that shows at least at the time the pure demand for his works, while many collectors do not care for the man, well too bad, his books are top rate and have enjoyed the personal conversations over the phone with the man in the past. hey did not know you had a Tunic hiding in the background.
Hi E, didn't you know that Herr was going to give me that Werfer tunic as a Christmas gift this year? ;-)) Oh hell, I just let the "cat-out-of-the-bag." )
hang on a minute there mate, I will give you this : it was a good try lol Here some overall pix so far, but forgot the combat belt and buckle ... aaarghh The drill tunic has pants aswell, unissued still with clothing depot tag. Herr
Thanks Skipper, however this is just a beginners collection , many pieces are common to get, but am trying to get more rarer ones and some badges too. I have seen several KM collections that made mine look like a mouse dropping ... Cheers Herr
Not so common Herr, but I appreciate your modesty, these are some items you don't find here, unless you go to militaria fairs, shops etc... You may be interested in the pictures I posted in the Prinz Eugne thread. I owe (and posted) some originals pictures of KM graves from the 1941 RAF attack.
Will check that thread out asap. To find Kriegsmarine items in New Zealand is not common, I mainly get my stuff from overseas like US,Canada, and Europe. However some KM gear does show up on trademe on the odd occasion and gets snapped up by me pronto if the price is right. Thanks for the comments ! Regards Herr
Hello Herr, that is a very fine collection you have been showing so far. Collecting items from the KM propably isn't wide spread (Just IMO since I am totally not into naval history ). However I really enjoy in having a good look on theses items or naval issues in general, so please keep up sharing your photos of these collectables. Regards Kruska
I agree when I hear or see of KM collections it is of badges nearly 95 % of the time, soft pieces are rare like your profession patches, photos, cap tallies, etc......... keep at it Herr
