Hello, I am new here and I recently bought this book from a man at a flea market in Italy. He didn't know exactly what it was other than it was from WWII. I did a little research on it and it seems to be a membership book for a man in the Nazi socialist party before and during WWII. The stamps that were originally put in there are still there and they start at October 1938 and abruptly end at 1943. It is 32 pages long. I am really wondering what it is exactly and how much it may be worth. Its all in German so if anyone could tell me what it says that would be great too. Thanks Cory
The Kyffhäuserbund was a pre NSDAP organization that was eventually 'nazified' in 1933 after the NSDAP took full power. Five years later, its name was altered to "NS-Reichskriegerbund 'Kyffhäuser' e.V." (Nationalsocialist Reich Warriors Association 'Kyffhäuser'), becoming the sole organization representing the Veterans' interests within the Third Reich itself. The reason that your stamps end in 1943 is because The Kyffhäuserbund was disbanded in March 1943 by Hitler himself. I have read that is was a result of the humiliating loss by the Wehrmacht at Stalingrad. As for value...I would imagine around $30-$50.00 depending on who was looking at it. This is not a highly sought after organization on the collecting side. It is nice however to have a complete book from start to end of this particular organization. Rich
On a side note...this book has NOTHING to do with the member being a part of the NSDAP. It is simply a membership book for a war veteran living in Germany during the TR era. He may have been a party member, but this mitglied has nothing to do with the socialist party. Rich
Big surprise...the OP has been logged in twice today and has yet to even spend 30 seconds to drop a quick "thanks". I wonder if I had told him that he had a mega rare document worth $10,000.00 if he would have graced us with a simple bit of gratitude. RR istolas:
For the record Cory did just leave me a 'visitors message' thanking me for the information. Cory I want you to know that I am not looking for kudos or any sort of ego stroke here. You see this great site gets used and abused like a cheap you know what by new members seeking evaluations of their purchases. Once they receive the information they are looking for they leave with little to no appreciation for the information that they received. A simple 'thank you' goes a long way...the next time that you have a question I will do my best to assist you. Rich
I only paid half of what you appraised it for, so do you think a collector would pay more? I don't think I will sell it either way. Its kind of cool haha.
I think that for what you have and what you paid it would make a fine addition to your new collection. You'd have to sell it private party as any dealer wouldn't touch it in my opinion...just not a market for such things really. You could always try an auction site like Gunbroker.com...but I don't think you'd be happy with the outcome. I say keep it!
