    Hi,

I need advice for ww2 game.
we are making a browser game, so many people can join the battlefield(more than 200 or more).
Anyway, I am not native speaker of German or US.
So it is hard to make a script for some situations.

    such as,
when some soldiers can not move because they don't have enough stamina,
    what they should say?
(we will show dialog, and soldier say why they can not move.)

What I thought is "We're tired".
That is too... simple, and I don't know it is good or not.

so, if you advice me, I will apply to our game.

Now, I ask our director what we need, he said, "there was so many questions, but I forgot it"

but I think he will request me to write many question here.

I am sure many many good person help us.

Of course, we will be very appreciate for it. and reward some ways.

    ask. 1)
when some soldiers can not move because they don't have enough stamina,
    what they must say?

    ask. 2)
Unit can do infiltration(cover and move slowly).
The commander of unit order to soldier "Move behind cover!" .
(you can see following thumbnail. "enemy contact" message balloon .the script will appear like that..)
Is it right? what is natural short order?

It is very simple question, but we don't know what is natural, so it is important to us. any comment would be welcome :)

In regards to 2 "Take Cover" I think would be the most likely for US units.
In regards to 1 there are a number of possibilities some of them probably regional. I suspect that significant national differences here as well. I.e Australian, English, and American may all be different.

    Thank you for your reply.

ah, it is not FPS. this game is a kind of strategy game.

I think "sir, we need some rest! " is good.
I ask it to my director.

and the message, "GET UNDER COVER! " , is good for cover.
I forgot to write about it.
There are "cover" and "infiltration" in commands.
We already use "take cover" for cover.

if there are something good for it, please let me know about it :)
I am very appreciate about your answer :)

As I already sad to Red barren, we choose "Take cover" for "cover". :)

We didn't think of the point, the difference of the nation's script
but it would be good if we can get the scripts.

If Aussie... i would say "time for smoko"...

And "take cover" - "get down!" - or just "Strewth! Down!"

    - As if there will be Aussies in it...just say'n.

Re 1. The term you are looking for is more than " tired" which might be cured with sleep , but "exhausted" which implies physical exhaustion" Modern British soldiers might respond with a suitable use of the errrr "military expletive" or some milder equivalent such as knackered or chin-strapped.. The ARmy Rumour SErvice ARRSE.com is full of idiomatic military English http://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/Dictionary - Tired soldiers might also be "hanging out of their hoops" ;)

Re 2 Take cover is the most military of the terms.

Though, again for absolute authenticity I can recommend the British Army DS phrase book fpor true idiomatic military english. .
    http://www.arrse.co.uk/now-thats-what-i-call-naafi-bar/1389-british-army-ds-phrase-book.html

One problem with computer games is that they lack authenrtic military language. A game might be full of graphic depictionsof death and mutilation , and may ,even reward evil deeds, but will shy away from the level of profanity in the armed forces. It would add real authenticity to play a computer game where the response to "I'm tired is"

"Pain is just weakness escaping the body!"

"Gentlemen, pain is temporary, glory lasts forever!"

"mind over matter.....i dont mind and you dont matter"

One question is do you want the phrases used to be those that would be used by the participants of the time or ones that feel right to the players?
In the first case you might have different phrases used by different nationalities of troops in game.
In the other it might be determined by the player choosing what country he comes from by default across all troop types and games.
Which to do is your call as a designer but it might help if you made it intentionally rather than it just "happening".
