Google Earth would be your friend if you're talking about the Station location. 22 miles little bit south of east of Avranches.

Yes Adam, that date for the 2nd Armored Division (AD) is well into the breakout from Normandy. The 2nd AD was fighting southeast of Mortain, France.

I think the alpha portion of the coordinate was recorded incorrectly and should actually be vT662075 using the the French Lambert Zone 1 map. This would resolve to 48.62391 ° -0.83499 ° (Latitude : 48° 37' 26'' N Longitude : 0° 50' 06' W), which is east of Mortain and north of Barrenton.

Use this link to find it on Google Maps

The 2nd AD had worked its way SE of Mortain 7&8 Aug 1944 in an effort to relieve an isolated battalion of the 1st Infantry Division (ID) trapped at Barrenton and had positioned itself to threaten the flank of the German XLVII Panzer Corps that was trying to push aside the US 30th ID at Hill 314 and the town of Mortain.

Two days prior, the 30th ID had provided a single platoon of the 30th Cavalry Recon Troop (CRT) to join a 2nd AD task force that also included 2nd Battalion of 120IR/30ID, 1/30CRT was to provided scouting duties for the drive down the D907 road to Barrenton when they ran headlong into a strong German tank force driving cross-country west to cross the D907. The 1/30th CRT was savaged, losing 1 officer & 5 enlisted killed, 7 enlisted wounded, 4 enlisted POW. Two M-8 armored cars & 1 jeep were destroyed. This effectively rendered the 1/30CRT not combat ready by its loss of over half of its strength.

Damned Clerk Typists. That should read vT rather than wT. It is the French Lambert Zone 1. vT 630275 is about 1 kilometer NE of La Prise Bouchard and about seven kilometers NW of Barenton. vT 662075 is Les Gouboudières, which is about one kilometer north of Barenton.

It was actually fairly usual for these to get scrambled sometimes.
