My grandpa served in World War II. He was from Southwestern Iowa. Served 3 years overseas, Army. Purple Heart. No idea what he did or where in Europe he served. Likely artillery or maybe armored. Can anyone help me identify the pins on his uniform?

Looks like a artillery collar disc. Do better pics of the Distinctive Unit Insignia on his cap or lapels. That would help. Rich A. in Pa.

I agree with Rich that the collar disc appears to be artillery. The SSI on his left shoulder appears to be an Armored Division patch. Maybe an Armored Field Artillery unit?

You're good, now the sleeve patch (what you can make out) looks right. I stared at that for a while trying to make it out. Thanks for the link too. :)

Talbot Fisher. That has to be a Welsh name. Port Talbot, Wales is were my folks emigrated from in the late 17th century. Maryland Quakers, turned Patriots, turned Rebels, turned GI's. The fisher part fits well too.

Good sometimes and lucky the rest! I just enjoy the hunt with things like this and helping point someone in the right direction when looking for info on a family member. ;)

Nice job, Clint. The 6th Armored Division has some good info and should help the OP get a general idea of what the 128th did during WWII.
