Can anyone help me decode this passage from a morning report? What does it all mean?

"Fr fur to apperhended M/Auth London as of 10 feb 44.
Tried by SCM (96th Article of War) Sentence to forfeit $20.00 of his pay and restricted to limits for 15 days as of feb 11, 1944.
Fr Apprehended M/Auth London to duty 11 feb 44"

looks like a shortened liberty leave......

SCM is Summary Court Martial, an appreviated hearing conducted by a junior officer, not necessarily with formal legal training. As in this case, it could only administer minor punishments for minor offenses, something like drunk and disorderly. Note that the process was complete the day after the offense.

    First line is:

From furlough to apprehended by Military Authority in London as of 10 February 1944.

A "furlough" for an enlisted soldier was an authorized vacation from military duty for longer than three days (less than three days was a "pass").

Officers were given "leave" instead of a "furlough".

He overstayed his furlough and was apprehended by the MPs, then was tried by Summary Court Martial, fined, and was restricted to the limits of his duty area for 15 days. Simultaneously, he went from being apprehended to duty. In the end, he lost one day of service, which would be reflected in his discharge as a further financial loss.

What was his rank and duties?

Thank you all for the information, it is invaluable to me and the family.
This morning report is from my father in law's service in wwii. he was a tank commander/ or worked up to that position and this was at tidworth barracks england.
His name was Henry Factor, he was a pfc at this time (promoted to tech5 just before the invasion of europe) in the Hq and Hq Reg of the 3btn of the 41st Armored Inf Reg.

Then he did not overstay, so he did something else naughty. :D A $20 fine was substantial at the time when the average enlisted soldier made $50 a month. He may have back-talked an officer or gotten in an argument with more a senior NCO. If it had been more serious he would have also gotten a reduction in rank.

If he was a "tank driver" in the 41st Infantry, it would have been in the Assault Gun Platoon of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 41st Armored Infantry Regiment. They had 75mm Howitzer Motor Carriages M8 until sometime in the spring of 1945 when they began receiving Medium Tanks M4 (105mm) as replacements. There is a photo of one of the 41st Infantry's 105mm Assault Guns on its way to Berlin after the end of the war in my new book.

Once again this wonderful site has come through with a wealth of information for someone just asking a simple question. What a great place to visit. The sarcasm isn't bad either;).

BTW, that is one of the 3d Battalion Assault Guns, so there is perhaps a one-in-three chance your Granddad is driving it. He would be the serious looking guy front right with the googles on. :D

Undated but c. July 1945. It is postwar and they are driving through a town on the way to Berlin for a parade. The parade scenes are pretty well known too but this is the best I have seen the shows clearly that by the end of the war the Armored Infantry had started exchanging its 75mm HMC M8 Assault Guns for 105mm M4 Medium Tanks.
