    For our French class we need to do a French culture project, which can basically be anything related to France. I decided to do mine on France During World War II. I have all the information I need, but I need some good pictures. Propganda posters, actual photos, Free France/French Resistance, Vichy France, anything relating to France during that turbulent time.

    In particular I need a picture that especially stirs emotion, but nothing visually gory or very depressing. This picture will be on the cover (such as it is) of the PowerPoint presentation, perhaps something grim or bitter defeat. For example, I heard of a British propaganda poster that showed Hitler doing his famous "victory dance" over a gravestone that said, "French democracy". Something like that.

    Thanks a bunch in advance guys, I know you have some really good stuff!

    I was able to find this one from my files - it may be too gory though........I believe the caption says "Hitler inspecting the captured French Fleet" .....can anyone ID the ship? :confused:

    Google's the first resource I turn to. Nothing really fits for the cover picture when I Googled though...

    That Hitler picture isn't gory though. I just don't think people will really get it without me explaining to them what it represents. That, and it seems more humorous than the sobering picture I'm trying to find.

    But that don't mean I didn't just add it to my WWII folder. Thanks!

    Thanks, and yes I fully intend to cite the images, video and music I'm using.

    I've never come across that one, but perhaps the most sarcastic, grim and bitter image is David Low's now-legendary 'The Angels Of Peace Descend On Belgium'. Although he referred at that time to Belgium, it was taken to mean 'the Low Countries' ie Holland, Belgium and France. You need to be careful with copyright issues but an image can be seen here : -

    I "Googled" "France WW2" images and found several that I would use.

    One that I feel is very poignant : France Surrenders

    And probably the most iconic photo;
