Nine bids for a ridiculous piece of crap like that? What could possibly be going on in those nine people's heads?

Somehow I doubt that any money will actually change hands for this, unless someone desperately wants to be the one to own the eBay rock which I wouldn't discount.

There have been spoof listings before and some ridiculous ones too, a few years ago someone in the UK sold a pound coin on eBay, IIRC it went for quite a bit over £100. Just an ordinary pound coin, not collectable, nothing special except for the fact that it was the first pound coin to be auctioned on eBay.

The people who have placed a bid will also have to honor it. Seems only fair for people to pay for their stupidity.

Ebay's newest policy is that they don't any kind of weapons or guns nor gun parts (like barrels, bolts, triggers, etc). They claim it is due to respect to the victims of the VA Tech murders. Sounds more like PC crap to me.

I couldn't agree more - and besides, why show respect to the VA Tech victims, and not the hundreds of other gunshot victims that take place every year?

What the hell does a piece of a WWII antitank gun have to do with VA Tech? It's PC BS.

Christian, while I would normally agree that the bidders should honor their bids, I have a strange feeling that the seller wouldn't demand it.

I found that piece rather amusing. So much so, that I posted it elsewhere, given credit to JC, of course!

Paying for it would really just be part of the joke - and besides, the seller will have to pay a rather large fee to eBay for completing the auctions.

Sellers have, in the past, sold the Original Nothing on eBay, so why not a rock? ;)

    Tom,
It was sent to me by friend and I simply passed it along. It is getting a lot of attention. Several thousands of viewers have visited that auction.

Ebay will take swords, daggers and hunting knives ...but they won't take 'sword sticks'!

I say it's you that is talking BS, Tom. You may think that way, but EBay certainly does not.

What is nonsensical about what Tom said? It's a perfectly reasonable question to ask. What does a random part of a WW2 antitank gun have to do with the Virginia Tech shooting? Nothing, no matter what EBay likes to think.

Presumably because they are 'concealed weapons'?

What did you mean, Blaster? I don't understand your post.

While I can see not selling surplus M-4 carbines, I don't see the harm in selling a defunct AT or AA gun, that can't fire, or even bits and pieces of them.

They're falling for the knee-jerk reactions of people with an agenda...

    This is mind boggling.

1.000,00 US for a bloody ROCK.
I can't belive it. And it is even manufactured by a guy without any practical experiance in rock warfare. If it was from the west bank or Gaza OK those are fairly developed rocks for a specific kind of Rock warfare (pelting Merkavas) but this...... :D

Heh, this rock will not be only honored (i know you ment the bid) it will be worshipped, by the buyer knocking himself on the head with it, at least 3 times a day. :D

    ebay weapons

I don't see why anyone should worry about a few weapons on Ebay, my Daily Telegraph yesterday that the Americans had 'lost' 190,000 assorted rifles and hand guns issued to Iraqi 'security' forces.
