Don't even want to know about those surplus AK's we sent as a "help" to the democraticaly elected goverment.
Re: ebay weapons Gee, Merlin, maybe it's because the VA Tech gunman got one of his blasters from EBay! IMO what EBay is doing is a perfectly reasonable safety precaution, and not falling for the 'knee-jerk reactions of people with an agenda'.
Blaster, you are more than entitled to your opinion. However, e-bay won't touch anything relating to firearms and weapons. You could never buy a functional firearm anyway, but now you can't put pieces of equipment for, say, a PAK 40 on e-bay. Does that make sense? Even if I only needed one more bit to make my PAK 40 functional, so what? It's not like I can go on a shooting spree, is it? Regulations should be based on logic.
He did. He went to a local dealer and had the NICS (FBI check) and bought the guns "legally". By federal law he was not supposed to be able to own a gun but the mental health folks there didn't report on is mental instabilities because he was not deemed defective by a court. The only way mental instability went on your record was if you were found defficient by a judge/court not just by a state agency. The original NICS system was supposed to have included provisions for this but too many special interest groups lobbied it out. Folks like the ACLU are anti-gun but don't want the government to look into your medical history to determine if you are sane.
Not the response I would have expected. You are basing your opinions on false information. What is the connection between a defunct piece of an obsolete weapon that a collector wants to buy, and a semiautomatic weapon, that you couldn't purchase anyway?
I said whatever, and I don't excatly enjoy being lectured. Maybe I just misunderstood what people were saying. Anyway, let's move on.
Come on guys stop arguing about VA Tech gunman. Here you have an IDOT who paid 1.000USD for a bloody rock. I prefer to laugh at his expense than ague about crimminaly insane murderer. BTW when his SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) finds out, he'll get a new clean white shirt and long vaccation in unstressfull surroundings (i.e. straightjacket and loony bin). I really think this guy could be dangerous. If he paid 1kUSD imagine how crazy he must be.
Yes yes okay okay I got it I got it!!!!!! Tom and JCalhoun quit hasselin me!!!! It's very irritating. Like TISO said, forget about the stupid VA Tech gunman!
I don't believe I was hassling anyone. I was trying to understand a point. You brought him in as a rejoinder to my comments. I'm simply trying to understand your point. That's all. But, if you want to make comments based on incorrect information, and debase other people's comments with them, that's fine. I'll leave it alone.
There was an incident in Australia several years ago where someone had an Uzi (illegal to own) shipped to him through a internet auction service like ebay... An automatic weapon delivered right to his postbox... Lucky he was working for the government and had the diligence to hand it in, but it shows that the precautions ebay is taking are not entirely based on unfounded paranoia... Besides, what possible reason is there for anybody to want to buy gun parts from an internet auction site? Its totally uneccesary when you can just go to a gun-store like everybody else. Or if its a rare an antiquated WW2 weapon, put up an ad and make a private sale for gods sake... Its a real wonder people were even able to buy guns before the internet was invented... Auctioning guns/parts/ammo on the internet just creates extra hassles for the auctioneers (they have to screen everyone, and they'll lose face should a Uzi find its way into another country), and theres no real benefit from being able to do so... Then theres the PC crowd who'd make a big deal of it and whine to the tabloids... Tell me, why whould ebay even bother? Just go buy gun parts the old fahioned way... Ebay isn't reacting unreasonably, they just don't want to waste resources providing a service which there is no demand for, and which would be far more trouble than its worth... A real knee-jerk reaction would be complaining that this somehow infringes the constitutional right to bear arms...
Another explination for this, is that gun laws vary so much over the world I guess Ebay doesn't want to have the hassle of governments or people complaining about ceratin "illegal" parts going into the country. One such case is Magazines, most RFD (registered firearms dealers) and militaria shop owners I know do not ship magazines or inert ammunition. Because whilst in the UK there are no restrictions on these items, there are in others.
Tom, give it a rest already! The point I was trying to make was apparently a result of a misunderstanding. And although it may not have been hassling, it was irritating anyway.
Heck one can buy Malyutka ovet the Slovene net flea market: http://www.bolha.com/oglas2512582 I briefly considered the buy and mounting it on the roof of my car, but.... BTW it's deactivated. There is a couple of guns on this site (mostly hunting and few mausers) but buyer must have puchasing and possesion permits. There are quite a few beyonets and cold weapons. BTW site is in Slovene.
