· Good afternoon, first time poster here... I am trying tio do some research for my distant cousin who served with the 383rd AAA AW BN · (Anti-Aircraft Artillery) (Automatic Weapons) in WW II He was KIA 1/8/45 on Morotai Island, Netherlands East Indies (now part of North Maluku Province, Indonesia) · Initial burial: United States Armed Forces Cemetery Doroeba No.1, Netherlands East Indies (same island where killed), Then, in late 1945 all were disinterred and moved/reburied in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, P.I. My question is this...what shoulder patch would he have worn on his dress uniform? I have not been able to decipher whom his battalion was attached to at this time. The family does not have any photographs. If anyone can assist me, or point me to a reference, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Mike
Suggest you go to the Center of Military History, Home, the US Army's Historical Center. Yell if that doesn't score anything for you.
Info on 383rd Anti-Aircraft Battalion Here's a thread on it. Read the posts. I don't know if it will address your concerns but it's interesting reading. Do search for it.
As for a shoulder patch, I'd think he would have worn one of the following in descending order of likelihood: 6th Army 8th Army US Army Antiaircraft Artillery And least likely, 31st Infantry Division
