I located this forum after joining the UK forum. I hope to enjoy jawing with y'all as much as I have with Brits.
Welcome aboard Slipdigit! :S! We've been getting a lot of good new additions recently, and judging by the Bonnie Blue in your avatar I'd guess you have a good base in history as well. I bet we can learn a lot from one another.
sloniksp, PzJgr, and Skipper, Thanks for the welcoming comments. I am sure that I will enjoy the discussion.
Welcome to the site. Having already exchanged a message with you, I will say that you will be a great new addition to this community. Welcome aboard.
Thanks Carl Another good thing about posting in this thread is that you get to add to your post totals and get rid of the pesky Junior Member rating.
I don't know whether this last statement was tongue in cheek or just cheek In any case you've already won a Purple Heart. Welcome aboard!
The tongue is firmly in the cheek. If I say something absurd, please remember that it is almost always in jest.
Judgning by your posts Slipdigit, you are a junior member in name only. As for the Jr/Sr member thing, we are working on a rank system so members will receive actual WWII ranks based on posts, length of membership, etc.
Kinda like what they do at World War II Talk? That would be a good thing. I can't really tell much with the medals. Do you have to get wounded first thing here?
Yes, the PanzerPenguin comes to your house and shoots you in the foot. I'm not sure about other sites, many of them have different rank systems, and we even used to have our own rank system here at the old ww2forums.com. Peppy and I are looking to implement a lot of different features here, as well as get ww2n.com and ww2.org going as well.
How do y'all like the new fire helmet in my signature? :firehelmet: Thanks to Peppy for dropping in there! And it's a purdy leather one, too!
My pleasure Slipdigit, glad you like it. I love making graphics for this website, and I'm always open for requests. The helmet is actually a scaled-down plastic children's helmet I found on the interweb. I touched it up a bit, so I guess that's what makes it look like leather.
LOL. I figured it was a close as you could get, I really couldn't tell if it was leather or not. I thought it was a drawing you had done. Leather helmets have vertical ridges, where the leather is sewn togther, running from the top of the crown to the rim and after long use they start to look like a helmet shaped baseball glove. The also have a prominent, flat shield on at the front of the crown. Some real plastic helmets have the ridges to somewhat favor a leather one in appearance but the shield is usually made intergral to the crown. I won't bore you with anymore info about helmets.
Im another new member from Alabama.......well.....actually a recent transplant from the windy city..........i was in a pretty big reenacting group up there and am starting one down here now.........it may take me some time to get an accent
We had a bunch of Texans join earlier this year, now it looks like an Alabaman invasion. Welcome to the WWII Forums dbloge, it's good to "see" you on the forums, after some initial glitches.
