I got some "VERY great finds" at todays gunshow.

The first piece I got (Which I was VERY surprised st seeing at a show in CC,TX) What I got was a nice 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class with BRASS core. It is maker-marked L/19 and this is an Iron Cross 1st Class that was awarded to someone serving in the Kriegsmarine.

And today must have been my lucky day--also known as Kriegsmarine Day. I picked up a near mint 1939 Uboat Badge marked L/56.

Two special things are still left, a MINT stamped Silver Infantry Assault Badge, and a Hindenburg Cross w/o swords (For NON-combatabt) which is much rarer. [IMG]

Congratulations Carl! Glad to see you financial situation has improved. How many iron crosses do have right now?

Last week I bought a combat tunic of an oberfeldwebel of the infantry from Peter Lukacs. He had a sale last month. I bought the tunic with 20% off.

Thank you Volkbert, but sad to say that my finances are still veri schlecht. These were purchases I had no plans on making. Its just that the dealer I have known for several years and spent lots of money in the past with. He is where I got all my Waffen SS Shoulderboards and Collar Tabs from. He made me what I felt was a pretty good deal, so I borrowed money from one of my credit cards (something I never do) but I did so because the price was right, and also I was having Militaria withdrawel Pains--I had not bought anything new for over a month.

Ooops, I re-read you post and forgot to answer.

So far all I have is two 1939 Iron Cross 1st classes. One is mint and is not maker-marked, the other is this one I just got today.

I have two 1939 Iron Cross 2nd classes, and about 7-8 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Classes and one 1870 Iron Cross 2nd Class.

Greg has many more than I do including several cased EK1s, and he has two 1870 ek2s. I dont know how many other eks he has.

I like the iron cross for its look and have a 1939 1st class and 1939 2nd class. But why do you buy more than one of the same medal (eg two 1st class of the 1939)? Do you want to have different types or something?

I had not thought of really buying more than one of each kind oe EK but, now that I have two different EK1s, I probably will continue to collect more with different makers marks.

Im not sure how many different companies made them--they were even made in France and in Japan. I can get you a list of makers marks--but I dont know if it is a complete list or not.

My mint EK1 has no maker mark, but this new one (the one with the brass core) is the one with the maker mark L/19, and was awarded to men in the Kriegsmarine.

I never have paid any attention on whether or not any of my EK2s are maker-marked or not. I just like collecting Iron Crosses--like Greg does. When possible, i'll get more--just because....... [IMG]

I dont know about anyone else but, the Iron Crosses are my favorite awards, then next are Luftwaffe Badges.

I agree--even if it means that baby gets no food for all of next month--I HAD to get these badges.

I bought the Uboat badge at probably half its going price, and the EK1 at about half price as well. Kriegsmarine ek1s seem to go for a bit more than your average ek1--as they are scarcer.

Thanks Kiwi, nope--no pics yet--that will have to be either from Greg or Gary to post as I have no way to do it. Gary I think is still out counting cows----Mooooooooooooooooo [IMG]

Greg--problem is that Sam doesnt accept credit cards so I had to go to Les Shooks table and borrow $200.00 from my card with a fee of $10.00.

Did you get anything from Sam? like that Mint Silver I.A.B.?

I've got my Uboat badge and EK1 on hand--I love staring at them :D Greg, if you did see the EK1 I got before I got to the show--i'm shocked that you didnt get it. I dont think you have a Brass cored one yet do you?

    How about you David?

I regret that I didn't get it. I did see it and it defineately showed some brass, good pickup for the price. I can't wait to see them. I posted pics of most of my collection on the other forum. I haven't figured out how to post here yet.

Hi David, no problem and check this out, on Wehrmacht in Die Kniepe, Greg (Ranger) posted pics of my "Kriegsmarine" Brass-cored EK1, and some nice closeup shots of my Uboat badge--which is an L/56.

I'll send you some stuff when possible--that way you cna get more practice posting pics. Currently im waiting for 10 Gebirgejager pics of the 5th gebirgs Div--taken during the campaign in Crete, to come in. I would like them posted on this forums first. ;)
