My name is Victor Johnson. Earlier this fall, I wrote a song in honor of the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor called "Sweet December Day". My intention was to capture the beauty of Oahu, in contrast with the darkness of the attack itself. I specifically got a lot of inspiration from "Pearl Harbor Ghosts" by Thurston Clarke. You can hear a demo version here - https://m.soundcloud.com/victorsings/sweet-december-day-demo I live in Bend, Oregon, but I would really like to get to Oahu and play this song in Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, Pearl Harbor Day. I think it would be deeply meaningful and profound. I am seeking some sort of corporate sponsorship, a donation of skymiles, or any individual or organization that might be willing to help with a flight from Oregon to Oahu. Due to having been laid off from my full -time job teaching music at a non-profit preschool, I don't have the means to fund this project. I have written several songs for victims of violence including Rain Makes the Flowers Grow, for a child from Sandy Hook, Black Sun, for the Charleston 9, Kingdoms, honoring the victims of the Boston Marathon, and "J'adore la France", honoring the victims of the Paris attacks.
