Thanks for the heads up on this Gaines. They had a tough time of it on the Channel Islands. I remember visiting Guernsey in the 80s and visiting the underground hospital hewn out of the rock face. A chilling place. http://www.visitguernsey.com/german-underground-hospital Absolutely beautiful islands especially in summer.

    My pleasure Col.

And Ms. Mutley, one might rather die on the surface that be in that place ! funny, buit I was there for a brief time in 1980, hated to leave. Truly beautiful place. Odd that the Allies by passed it , no doubt fighting on the islands would have produced many casualties both military and civilian but it remained occupied until after VE day. I presume the Allies supplied it to some degree. an interesting topic to explore.

Many thanks for the Red Cross supply article, the movie on the liberation and the occupation stories. Just my cup of tea !

I will search for an ebook on the occupation but they are surely scarce, Needs rto be a kinle or such as I can no longer read ordinary print. A fascinating topic to me.
