Good Morning My name is Dan Taylor and I'm the curator of the Kent & Sharpshooters Yeomanry Museum, based at Hever Castle in Kent (UK). The museum commemorates and explains the history of our Regiment, which traces its history back to the Napoleonic Wars. I served in the Territorial Army (a little like the National Guard) back in the 80s and 90s but diverted onto the Regiment's history, writing articles and books (eg Villers-Bocage, through the lens). My day job is as a modelmaker, and I have worked in film, advertising, architecture and for museums in this role, and now produce a range of accessories for modelmaker on military subjects. My reason for joining is to help explore my Regiment's interaction with other armies - both as combatants and allies - to better understand the history. My specialisation is in WWII history, particularly Normandy and the Western Desert Campaigns, though I have written and lectured on a wide range of topics from the Boer War to the Cold War. I'd be happy to help with understanding the oddities of British military history All the best Dan
Welcome aboard, and enjoy your stay. Have you looked at our sister site, WW2Talk (WW2T) as well? Many more British/Commonwealth and Euro types over there. They might need your help and expertise over there as well.
Hi Dan. Welcome to our abode. I would echo Bobby (A-58) in encouraging you to join our sister site as well. There's a wealth of information in both places. Have fun.
Thanks All for the fine welcome. I shall indeed be looking to join the WW2Talk site as it clearly has complimentary threads. Kind regards Dan
