    Hello everybody,

My name is Tom and I'am from Holland. It is my first time on this forum and I would like to show two of the additions to my collection. Over the weekend I've bought 2 items in Germany and I've spend a couple of hours figuring out what they are. I bought them because they looked great and I have never seen them before. I've got some idea what they are now but I would like some more backstory. Hopefully someone recognizes the items, has them in there own collection or knows some reference material.

The first thing is a set of 6 "carts". They come with a cover that has the following on it: Treue um Treue: Der dank der Heimat.

Click on the links below for the pictures. I've blurred the swastika's.

My own guess is the the family of a fallen German soldier would get the set to remind them of the values of Hitlers Germany?

The second item would seem to be some kind of winterhilfswerke vignette used by the Hitler-jugend. My guess would be that the children would go to houses collecting money for the whw. If someone donated then they would place these vignettes on the door or window? However this is more guessing than knowing. I've found nothing online. Click on the link below for the picture. Again I've blurred the swastika's.

These are actually just a sample, I've bought a couple of sheets of those.

Welcome. You don't have to blur the swastikas. This is a history site.

Glad to have you around. I think Skipper, our resident militaria expert, should have something to say about these.

Welcome, both are HJ items. (oval red and white swastika shield) I'm not certain what they were used for , but I tend to beleive they were intern rewards for sellers of WHW tinies or rewards for the most skilled members. This explains why there no valuta markings on the objects. One can imagine a whole set of prices and a stamp for each member who took part in the campaign (yours would be the 1942-43 winter ).
It would be interesting to check HJ booklets and see if some have those stamps affixed in thim as part of a compulsory duty.

More about HJ duties here :

Historically your issues are interesting because motivating the youth during the key winter of 1942-43 (Stalingrad etc....) was an absolute necessity for the Reich . (In vain of course) .

"Treue um Treue" is a traditionnal motto of the Fallschirmjäger too (Luftwaffe) . It was also used by the Wehrmacht in General as well and of course the HJ as a tribute to those who served and paid the ultimate price.

This motto was only forbidden in........ 2014 (yes this is not a joke)

I haven't seen a date on the booklet with cards, but the thematics of sacrifice etc.. make me believe they are also from the same 1942-43 or later period.

    Hope this helps
