    Have tried to salute you couple times now. I have not saluted in many months. There is no ability on this page to salute you. Will check posts regarding. ..Thanks for above. Think wet my pants a little.

    Ha -paranoid indeed... There are other things I haven't used in a while, care to give 'em back Urqh? Common sense, car keys, sense of humor, central heating, appendix... Anything I've missed?

    Thanks for the salutes.

    Here's the report for Naval Commander, Western Task Force for the Invasion of Southern France including material on the disposition and use of USN Shore Fire Control Parties (NGFS). Sorry Gent's I'm a bit of a supporting arms fire Nerd.

    No problem...I'm not a gun nerd really, but in general makes good reading even to me, and the bonus of the other links you've provided will have me getting some late nights...I just dont have time...your killing me...

    C3 COBU
    The Combined Operations Bombardment Units (COBUs) provided fire direction for ships in shore bombardment in WW2. The first COBU was formed in 1940 and by the end of the war there were five in existence. In 1946 all were disbanded, except No.2 COBU which joined the School of Combined Operations (later the Amphibious Warfare Centre) at Fremington. They were a mixture of men from different Services - Royal Artillery, Royal Marines, and the Navy. (Information from Stu Hart ex 29 Cdo)
