What if Hitler would not have come to power thus preventing a second world war between 1939-1945? Who would have started a second World War? Personally I think it would have been Japan. Before WWII they were already at war with China. I think that the world's focus would have been turned from the Third Reich to Japan. What do you think?
I agree that the Pacific War would almost certainly have happened regardless of events in Europe. What is much more difficult to determine is what would have happened in Germany without Hitler. It could be argued that the demoralised, weak and broke German republic was ripe for a takeover by a nationalist group.
