    Based on a true story that was given to her father, Charles M Herbert, this is New Zealand author Ann Barrie’s first novel.

    Author bio: Christchurch-born Ann Barrie was educated at Papakura High School, and Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School. A librarian by profession, she lives on the south coast of Wellington.
