    On realising that Jaeger is indeed correct about the Colonels Easter party...I forthwith, laarged over to the Grenadier Guards outside his beer tent...

    The lads were quick to show me the invasion plan of States using food as a taster....

    Yanks will eat anything as we all know so this lot will have em queuing up while Me Stef, Richard and Jaeger nip round the back in Stefans white van with recoiless rifle attached...Hold on to it RIchard..it aint that difficult....Damn, knew we shold have given him a basic military course...
    Anyway, nip off round back...burn whitehouse down again....Then you ll know what its like to have a chip on yer shoulder..

    They are not intended to be, they are French Fries. :p If I want a "proper chip" as y'all oddly call them, then I'll cross the ocean. If I want a FF, I'll stay stateside.

    But, then, I don't eat a lot of fried potatoes, no matter the name. So to me, it is really a matter if six of one, half dozen of the other.

    Just a note, Southern fried potatoes were originally prepared a different way. The potatoes were sliced, not juliened and were fried in a iron skillet with a much smaller amount of grease, not even enough to cover the potato. They were not crispy and often onions or peppers were added.

    Right lads we need to think back to the time when the Sun never set over the British empire.

    Having studied the techniques that were used, I have found something useful for us. We befriend some of the colonials and have them work for us.

    I suggest we befriend the (drumroll please) Republicans.

    We wander about and start rumours about the democrats. Banning guns, compulsary gay marriages, abolishon of the church and open borders etc. Then we offer protecion under Elizabeth for the poor people. A great uproar and then Elizabeth Regina Pax.

    Richard gets to be Viceroy of Noodlemania (Eastcoast down to Florida)
    I'll do the middlepart. (Jaegerovia)
    Urqh get's Boston and New York (we need somebody who can sort out the Micks)
    Stefan takes the westcoast (Libreville)

    Right, seven minutes till teatime.

    I would never say that, I read his book on the Korean War and saw his series on TV as well. Long with another one of his books in my to read pile.

    I knew what you were saying. My point, before the bashing begins, regardless who prints it, the source is what matters as well as the article itself. So what if the Mail prints a lot of rubbish but if they pick up a good story from a reputable source, then why not read it. Geez.

    Nobody has criticised the article Ike, I have only glanced through it and I have a lot of respect for Max Hastings. He is a good author and a sensible chap as a rule. That said, the article doesn't seem to be saying anything groundbreaking, Obama is playing to the international crowd, trying to cover a lot of business in a short time and appear to be doing something. Whether he is or not we shall see.

    Have you ever tried Folgers? That brand is a good one as well as Hills Brothers and also the brand made famous by Juan Valdez.
