who have recently left this mortal plane, one which many of our non-ancient rogues may be aware of but who was a performer and icon right to the end of his life and battle with cancer. Here is a link to Levon Helms (drummer for The Band), and a tribute to him by all the others who recognize his contribution to the music world.

I wasn’t that much of a fan of The Andy Griffin Show, or the spin-off Gomer Pyle USMC, but when guys who are part of that era of TV history pass on, they should be remembered. I remember seeing him in a number of other shows, including MASH and Hitchcock; he was a fine character actor. Rest in Peace Mr. Lindsey.

I enjoy both "Andy Griffith" and "Gomer Pyle USMC". It was sad to see this today -- George Lindsey was a funny guy and a good actor.

I also remember him from those shows, with the exception of the Twilight Zone. It is indeed sad to see the passing of these great comedic actors. They do represent the golden age of entertainment. So long and thanks for all the laughs, George.

Goober was one of a kind ! Always trying to do his best but usually falling short.

Lindsey was also an Air Force Vet in the 50's.
Rest in Peace George, thanks for the laughs.

Before there was Whitney Houston, there was Donna. Sadly Donna Summer passed from cancer complications at age 63.

The Grammy-winning singer, nicknamed the Queen of Disco, had numerous hits in both the 1970s and 1980s, including "Last Dance," "She Works Hard for the Money" and "Bad Girls." Her duet with Barbra Streisand, "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" was one of four Summer songs that topped the Billboard Top 100 charts.

Well, at least she had something of a full life. Once again, I feel older than dirt!

There's going to big party up there with Donna, Whitney and Michael. May they all rest in peace.

This was sad news. Donna was one of the few true talents in the disco era.

It was released today that Donna S. died after a battle with lung cancer. As a non-smoker it is speculated that her performing in smoke filled rooms may have contributed, just as it is suspected that Dana Reeves (Chistopher's widow) also contracted lung cancer from second-hand smoke she was exposed to in her own singing career.

I mourn her loss a lot more than the loss of Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson.

Yes, noticed this late last night. He woke from coma a week ago and managed to spend the rest of his life at home before dying. He knew he was not going to survive but as the last present he could be with his family until the end.
    R.I.P. Robin! :(

Rest in Peace Robin, as I understand it this was the same malady that took his twin brother Morris? The music of the Gibb brothers was far more than just disco, but that is what they are remembered for on the whole. MY favorite by Robin was "I Started a Joke", not disco in any sense.
