    People in the service are just people. Some do those things, others don't. The buzz-cut made me LOL. I met a few sailors who had one, but they all were wearing that kind of cut before they came in. Not required in the Navy.

    In my experience with the defence force is that infantry (and the combat corps in general) are different from the non combat corps...non combat relate to civilians very easily...Infantry not so much...
    My experience with navy and Air Force is far more limited...

    You lose a lot of that stuff the longer you've been out, that is if you only served a hitch or two, but not from retiring after 20+ years.
