Thinking about the upsurge of UFO sighting in the late 40's - early 50's

In the US the Belleville Triangular UFO was a hot item for a while. My brother retired there to have the USAF base facilities handy.

I was passing between the landing lights for Lambert Field, St. Louis, one dark night and saw a triangular ufo. I laughed. It flew over head and I noted the note light and the wing lights. Perfect triangle. UFO nuts are their own special class of crazy.

Looks like it is showing how ineffective it was. Probably staged after static testing to show its failure. They do not look too happy.

I should have said this was an experiment with pistols, rifles and machine gun at the end. Nobody gets hit this many times…

I've seen miniguns cut down a tree. They wouldn't have a problem with a sheet of steel.

But I was mostly funning. Some of the "look at this cool shit!" from the First World War still gives me the giggles. Tank crews wearing armor and a veil of chain mail. (Hey! That rhymes!) Fake trees serving at OPs. ("Should we shoot down the only tree standing for miles in either direction?" "Nah, it's probably harmless.")

Would you rather go over the top and walk or jog towards the enemy line with your tunic for protection? I’ve always thought of steel ‘inserts’ one can drop into pockets. Much was not done because the care factor wasn’t there…small minded generals etc etc.
