    I've been avoiding hospital for fifteen months now. January 11th I have to make a call.

    The VA hospitals are frequently connected to a local hospital. All the interns in St. Louis VA are from St. Louis University Medical School. It's fun showing a fresh young intern a mass of scars and sharing some war stories.

    I'm included on my wife's work policy, standard type insurance for the US. But those hospitals are crowded as well.

    Just home (last Wed) after nearly a fortnight in the Acute hospital that serves my area. No I do not like hospitals but they are essential. The hospital complex is divided into a Covid and non Covid hospital with corridors blocked off and circuitous routes around the place. It is rather like The City & the City by China Miéville but in one building! Not conducive to keeping a grip on reality!
