i red in other posts that captured french tanks were unsutable for heer use because of one man turrets or no hatches ...why do these things make the tanks no good?

Too much to do for one man...

    1) Command
    2) Situational Awareness
    3) Gunner
    4) Loader

That's a huge load for one guy...

    Those fussy Germans... :D

Was this the same for tanks like the Char B1 and T-35, where the main gun was located somewhere else in the chassis, and the commanders gun was secondary armament?

The Pz. Kpfw. I and Pz. Kpfw. II both had a one-man turret, but the difference here was due to communication, in that the French commanders would have to observe flag signals, while the Germans could receive orders by radio. This allowed the German tank commanders to put more attention on commanding their tank.

And the Pz. Kpfw. II had a clip fed 20mm gun, greatly reducing the need for dedicated loader/gunner.
I've seen the Pz. Kpfw. II and SOUMA S-35 or CHar B1 bis (can't remember which) referred to as "one and a half" man turrets, becuse there was enough room for another crew member to help, if not actually fir in the turret.

The third crewman in the Pz. Kpfw. II was the radio operator.
