On shortly today on the Military Network. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll tune in. Update: Ooh la la. The very first clip and what do I see? My favorite actor - the star of the all time best ever WW2 TV series Danger UXB: Anthony Andrews.
I am in Canada, on Satellite TV, so this is an American feed (along with heaps of others I get.) It should be on in the US right now: 9:45 PM PST and I am watching it.
If you enjoyed this, you are just going to flat out love the 1979 TV servies Danger UXB. The film company must have seen a promising young actor in Anthony Andrews in this 1975 movie. Perfect choice for the role of Brian Ash: a young lieutenant who is assigned to a UXB unit in the early days of World War II. (UneXploded Bomb Disposal Squad.) Ash's job, coming from an Engineering background, is to deactivate German bombs, some of which have fuses specifically designed to kill bomb disposal experts. The series takes us through his maturation as an officer and: How they learned the tricks to disarm these endless variations "delayed action" bombs... in actuality only targeting them, the UXB experts; Of a love story with Susan (Judy Geeson), and The stresses and strains of wartime on the civilians and military in England. British television (in this case ITV) can produce top notch programs... and this is British Television at its very very best. 8.8 out of 10 Rated. Why? - Do not show this to children. Do not watch this when you are emotionally fragile. Available on VHS Tape, DVD or try through Inter-Library Loans. Watching Danger UXB will really help you appreciate the challenges experience by our Explosive Ordnance Disposal Teams in Iraq and Afganistan and why and how, 70 years later, these terrorists can still be taking the lives of our best experts in this field.
