Original WW2 Era photo showing a Captured German Heinkel 111 bomber.

    You can see the newly converted symbol towards the rear of the plane, looks to be RAAF.

    Another captured RAAF 111 - Eventually flown to the US for testing. I'm not sure on the RAAF roundel on the original picture...There were a large number of "british" roundels that don't come up well in old black and white pictures...

    RAAF roundels are WHITE in the middle with (usually no third circle)...

    And of course, so that no one is in any doubt of the aircraft's origin...

    The red Kangaroo was not used in the pacific (to my knowledge) as ANY red in the insignia would/could set off ground fire...Or lets say an American Catalina thinking the Aussies were the yellow peril! Bloody Yanks...
