I have one item with which I would appreciate your help. I have a older widower neighbor whose pilot husband owned a P-51 D but sold it a number of years ago. She said it was involved in a crash after it was sold but does not know if it was written off. She would really like to know what really happened to her "second love" (the P-51). Besides the web site Mustang -Mustang where might I inquire. Plane ID number is 52758. I do not have the year prefix. Thanks for your help
I'm not too sure that the serial is correct for a P-51. The only 52758 which I can locate is 42-52758, and that's for a B-24 Liberator.
I agree, looking further into the matter, 52758 was not in any of the production or serial numbers of any P-51.
Since the serial number is incorrect, I tried running a partial through: Warbird Registry - North American Aviation P-51 Mustang - A Warbirds Resource Group Site The partials that I checked were 527, 275, and 758.
