This M-1 Carbine was on display with a mannequin representing a WWII paratrooper.

We could not figure out what purpose the rod attached to the left side of the receiver was.

I have added additional cropped views of it.

If you have any idea, please elaborate.

that, or to keep the carbine from slipping off the hand and falling. come to think of it, a mannequin CANNOT hold a firearm.

We thought that too, but no other mannequin holding a weapon was configured with such a device. The rest were stood up with no props.

It is the same color as the metal on the rest of the weapon.

look at the steel bands wrapping around the receiver. they serve the weapon no good purpose. it looks like an improvised holder.

I have an M1-A1 paratrooper carbine at home, and it doesn't have that metal rod on it. It's just a rod to steady the mannequin. Brad is right again.

Well start one then. We can fill it with Bradisms, Bradistrys, Brad Rules and All Things Brad.

That would take too much away from my humbleness; and as you know, nobody is more humble than me
