The St. Thomas University Division III football team pulled off one of the most incredible 2-point conversions I've ever seen:

That was a designed play according to the UST head coach:

    Good play.

Did you also see the Arkansas "lateral" against Ol' Piss last weekend?

yes, I figured that...but since it was a no look pitch, seems like you have to pray to Mary that it works, unlike the regular 'hail mary' passes.....it wasn't like they were completely fooled...the pitch had to be and looked perfect? what's so strange, is that it is not a direct, bullet pass....it's lobbed, high, for a long time..I've always said, a lot of the defense is easily fooled, NFL or college.....plays like this are why I like watching college more than NFL...but recently, I may give up on that
is there a lot of lakes up there?? what has been the longest cold weather stretch up there??

One of the commenters for the video pointed out #90 who clearly interfered with the receiver and then walked off pouting about getting beat. Pretty hilarious.

Don't like the two point conversion in college football, and it beats me why the NFL adopted it.

Shouldn't the college game being trying to emulate the Pros, not vice versa?

Slightly off topic, but would someone please explain to me (who lives on the wrong side of "the Pond" to have his finger on the pulse).

Why do extra point kicks seem to be taken from further away, than in living memory?

    Thanks in advance,
    David.

it adds a lot to the game......you can now tie, or go ahead with 2....I always said the 1 point was too close--automatic....it was a waste of time....also, especially in NFL, they need to make the kick offs farther back....they all seem to go into the endzone for a no runback...

As annoying as the lack of returns have been because of the shift in kickoffs, it has greatly decreased the amount of injury and concussions that occur during the most brutal play in the sport. I remember playing in HS and college and feeling bad for the wedge block guys. Five of them would link arms, heads down to block the center of the formation
    Brutal.

then shouldn't they just start at 20 every time?

Guys in the wedge can't lock arms anymore. I'm not even sure they can form a wedge anymore.

The worst hit I ever took in high school football was when I was returning a kickoff one night. I got up not knowing where I was and started to trot off the field toward the other team's bench. Bad thing about it was that I was trucked at about midfield and until thst point I thought I was going to score.

That's true...no more wedges. At least I think they can only have 2-3 guys in the middle of the field, but no arms locked.

They seem further away because, well, they are. The NFL implemented a new rule this year which moved the 1-point conversion (aka PAT, or Point After Touchdown) try from the 2-yard line to the 15-yard line. The idea being that the PAT had become almost automatic, boring and pointless (pun intended). Moving it back would make it more difficult and create a bit more suspense.

Most kickers will kick 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage, so it would be 33 yards (10 yd end zone + 15 + 8).

Which is ridiculous, as an 18 -32 yard field goal (easier) is worth 3 points.

Has the commissioner lost his marbles? The rule changes are threatening to make the game a laughing stock.

agree........33 yarder automatic if they are kicking 55 yarders...make it at least a 45 yarder..if they did away with extra point, and kick off, they could get in more playing time.....I guess they have to do kickoffs to keep onside kicks available
