"Curtiss-Wright delivered six XT35-W-1 engines in late 1948. One was test flown in the nose of a Boeing EB-17G bomber and proved more powerful than the bomber's combined four standard reciprocating engines. However, the Air Force dropped the straight-wing, turboprop bomber design and decided instead to produce the now famous, swept-wing B-52 powered by Pratt & Whitney J57 turbojet engines. With no applications found for the XT35, and it never qualified for military application." Wright Typhoon XT35-W-1 Turboprop Engine
I'm thinking this image has been photoshopped..As all other photos I have seen of 44-85734 have her with all 4 original engines. This B-17 was restored and flew for many years as "Liberty Belle", before buring in a field a few years ago.
Not another angle...But, a completely different aircraft. This is 44-85813, she was used to test the Wright XT-35 & R-3350 engines. The one in the previous photo was used to test the P&W XT-34 engine. And a third B-17 was handed over to Allison to test their Allison T-56 engine.
