Looks real…top of my head, aerodynamic testing to see if they can get a few more MPH from a simple design change…
The XB-41 had a chin turret but otherwise looked like a standard B-24 (except for the second top turret):
It was a "gun It was a "gunship" conversion, like the YB-40 Flying Fortress gunship. Both were failures.
Another monstrosity. A nose and rear turret from a B-24 grafted onto a B-17. I think that the ground crews got together for a poker game and the loser had to "modify" their plane. Get a load of the exposed machine gun position to the rear of the top turret. The gunner better have his hat on tight or it'll blow away for sure.
That or Not-This-Way ! I keep a large distance from all eighteen wheelers on the interstates ! Other than the ones that cut in.
I don't know what the truck driver was thinking. He was hauling a 134 foot, concrete bridge beam. He stopped for a traffic light, leaving the beam across the tracks. Why he went the route he did with that long of a load is perplexing. I know the location where the accident happened and there were alternate routes.
I thought usually an oversize load requires an escort ? Two things I hope the idjit lost his CDL . And that poor engineer, definitely needed a change !
Two Norfolk Southern employees transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Three locomotives and about 14 cars derailed.
This one was in 2018 about half a mile from my house . . . And BTW MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL Rich
