At Beltring in 2001 or 2, there was a German dealer selling a pile of rusty Panzerfaust tubes for £10 each ( 'found in a German lake' ). I rummaged through and found one with a trigger, and it's stood in a corner for over ten years almost forgotten. Sometimes I've seen Panzerfaust heads at militaria fairs but they've either been hopelessly rusted out or extremely expensive.

I stumbled across ZiB Militaria's repro ones on the internet - they're not expensive so I ordered one and here's the result....

Maybe not the most beautiful item, but for me it's a relatively cheap display item and I really quite like it !

    Very cool!

What is the length of that tube? The reason I ask is that I watched Tali Ihantala recently and there is a scene where a soldier holds the tube against his chest rather than under his arm when discharging it (killing him), which seemed unlikely.

For once I can answer a question with confidence....the tube is exactly 80cm long.

All quiet on the Festung Bull front!
    Nice piece though.

There's a photo in Fleischer's Kummersdorf book of Russian labour constructing a (apparently) temporary building using Panzerfaust tubes for a frame.

Keep collecting, and maybe build a very original greenhouse...

80 cm - 31 inches. Well, shorter than I thought so I guess somebody could make the mistake shown in that film.

£10 for a Panzerfaust tube!!! You and Skipper grab all the bargains!

The tube looks to be in very good condition and is even better with the projectile fitted

It's a beauty. Do you and Skipper have a corner on the militaria market? Seems like you two have all the neat stuff.

The teaching was brief because the weapons were not brought to the front ( take the weapon, aim, shoot ) until the Soviet major offensive begun so that the Red Army would not know we had them. I guess though more got burns to their hands and legs or were injured due to being close behind the weapon during firing.

Even so, I still think it's a bargain...but not near as good a one as 'that other weapon' (I can't bring myself to mention it's name, and it's not because I'm immensely jealous of you having it...honestly!) that you bought years ago! ;)

A friend spotted a relic warhead base-cup on e-bay for £10...it was very rusty, but some brisk work with a coarse file saw all three parts fitting together very nicely on my 'budget' Panzerfaust today......

It also locates the aiming posts perfectly.......
