poppy day Poppy Day is Remembrance Day, 11.00 on the 11th November we have two minutes silence to remember all those killed in war, the time that World War One ended in 1918. "In Flanders fields the poppies grow, between the crosses row on row, That mark our place, and in the sky, the larks still bravely singing, fly".
That's what I thought. We have Memorial Day here in the US.For the members of this forum, every day is Poppy/Memorial Day.The sacrifices of veterans and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice are never,if ever, far from our thoughts.
As usual this year my poppy is very lonely on the streets of Luton, and opportunities to purchase your poppy seems limited to churches and the occaisional newsagents.
Poppy There is a thread running on 'ARRSE' from a schoolboy in England that was told to remove his poppy by one of his teachers!
Now that is just plain wrong. Why did they do it? Was it a case of 'I think you're violating school rules' or 'I don't want poppies in my classroom'?
poppy I'll try and get back to you on this, but there are over 400 people on line at the moment and hundreds of threads, I think it is something to do with mistake in school rules, but there have been over 100 comments and advice. The ARRSE site has included 'poppies' on avitars if requested see examples.
Sadly so. I'm proud to say that there are many shops selling poppies in Swanage. First & foremost is Ladbrokes. (My shop).
I was at the Desert Rats Memorial on Sunday and there are already a few poppies in place there. http://tanksww2f.chollie.co.uk/files/Tanks/PMVR/PA280542.JPG
Thetford I photographed this on the evening of the day it was put up on the plinth, pleased to see it has not been 'graffitied!
We've all got poppies now, it seems that they're harder to find each year. I've made a point of making sure my children know what they're for and they wear their's too.
