This photo was taken in 1960s. The man in front of the StuG IIIG is Erkki Halonen, who commanded that StuG IIIG during Continution War.

Do you have any sources for this that we could read about this find? I have found nothing on what you have stated so far. You would have thought that finding two battlions worth of WWII era Panthers in mint condition would be big news. Especially to collectors and historians. Worth millions.

This sounds like a variation of the Latrine rumour of Panthers being seen in the First Gulf War. It turned out to be a T54-55 with the add on armour.

The "88s" could be mis identified 85mm M1939 or M1944 A/A gun both of which were used by Iraq. When the British left Iraq in the late 1940s they left behind a small number of Churchill tanks (between 6 and 12), armoured cars of various types including S.A Marmon Herrington Mk4 and even a few ancient Guy/Vickers and Lanchester 6 wheelers. 25pdrs and 18pdr field guns a few 3inch A/A and 40mm Bofors A/A. The Feisal Regime received more modern equipment in 1956-57 when 52 Centurions were received- enough for one armoured regiment. The only German armour in Iraq that I am aware of were trophies left behind by large British armour training units that trained in the Western Desert of Iraq during WW2, Hence the pair of 15cm SFH auf Lorraine Schlepper found in 2003.

It would be nice to be proved wrong:D:D

LOL I remember that rumor. Two bad. Two battalions of mint Panthers would have netted Iraq quite a hefty sum.

Some ex Axis amrour used in Middle East.

Eygptian. A battery of 15cm Sig auf Pz2 were used by the Eygptians, whether this photo is a genuine Eygptian wreck or one left over from 1942-3 is unclear.
