Private Robert Johns 13th Parachute Battalion killed in action 6th June 1944 and now buried at Ranville CWGC cemetery was only 16 years old at the time of his death. Is he the youngest British soldier to die during the Second World War? Somehow he managed to lie about his age as he joined up at 14 and a comment from someone who remembers him was 'he was quite a big lad'.

Whilst on this topic who was the youngest sailor and airman from the RN and the RAF to die in the war? Any thoughts anyone?

Their is a boy in the Canadian cemetry who was supposedly only 14 when he was killed fighting in Normandy. He is marked as 16, but a visiting member of the Canadian army and a vet who i met when i visited the cemetry informed of his real age.
