I just noticed that I haven't put up a post here about the Pz. Div. Müncheberg research. This research was started by David C. Clarke over at Marcus Wendel's Third Reich Forum. Any contribution what so ever is highly welcomed. This is an attempt to find out as much as possible about the little-known panzer division which was formed during the end of the war and participated in the very last battles of the reich. Remember that everything is of value, even pictures. ;)

    best regards/ daniel

I know so little on them muself--all I know for a fact is that they were formed from men who were from the Muncheberg area.

Interesting, I've never heard that before. Can you in some way confirm it with a source? By the way, Carl, I recieved a signed portrait photo of Ritterkreuzträger Horst Zobel, komp. and bat. commander in Pz. Div. Müncheberg, today. He was also awarded EKII, EKI, wound badge in black and the panzerkampfabzeichnen in silver. I think the signed photo is rather rare, any comments?

Hi CDS---The only book I know of that its mentioned in is a book called: "The German Order of Battle 1944"--which was a book that originally was published by the US Army during the war. I have a copy that I got about 2 yrs ago and I think it is published by Greenhill Books. This book along with about 50 or so other referances I have--is still in storage and Ill not have any access to them till about February.

Horst Zobel was a Hauptmann who joined the 6 panzer regiment in 1936. He participated in many campaigns and was later kompanie commander and eventually led the panzer abteilung Müncheberg. Among other awards he was rewarded with EK I, EK II and RK.

    regards
