Hi I am wondering if anyone can help? When I was a kid I remember pouring over a set of books all about WWII. They were written in the UK, hardback, 6 or 7 volumes, darker blue covers and inside had some wonderful black and white (mainly) illustrations, including things like a cutaway diagram of a torpedo, etc. The books have vanished from my parents' house and I can't for the life of me remember their name or author. I've spent hours looking through second hand booksellers in case I stumble across them but have never found anything similar. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has these or knows the name/author? Regards Chris
Sounds to me rather like 'The War In Pictures' published in the 1940s by Odhams Press. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THE-WAR-IN-PICTURES-6-VOLUMES-ONE-PER-YEAR-BLUE-BINDINGS-ODHAMS-PRESS-WWII-/231125728960
Thank you so much, this has been driving me crazy for ages and you are absolutely right. Regards Chris
I had one of them at home when I was a kid and spent hours poring over the pictures. They used to be really common in secondhand & junk shops, but in the last ten years decent sets have become harder to find.
