Hi, I'm a newbie on this forum. I have seen a lot of interesting threads that are super-old, like more than 10 years. Is it ok to resurrect a prehistoric thread or is it better to open a new one? I don't want to come here and first thing I do is piss some moderator
We are usually pretty forgiving on here...fairly mellow. If I could presume to answer this i would say that its encouraged to resurrected old threads rather than a new one on the same subject...it keeps the info in one place.
I usually open only old threads I have started myself and nobody had answered them or there is new data to add today, or they are close to 20 years old. I think some of them deserve to be reopened. At the moment I take info bits from books I have read so the source is also mentioned. But for instance I think the Kursk thread never dies.
Open away. There are so many threads I've forgotten or never saw. Bring up what interests/excites you. A fresh perspective never hurts.
Welcome BT, feel free to dredge away ! I've been known to do some mining in the basement myself. There are some gems buried down there.
Thanks guys! I also think it makes more sense to continue an old thread than to create a duplicate on the same subject.
The 'search' function is always a good idea IMO. I often resurrect old threads - we've had some very knowledgable members here over the years who have shared some excellent research. Also, new books and research have appeared in intervening years, so it's good to update.
