I am unable to find the circumstances surrounding the death of my uncle, Victor Leslie LUDGATE (7386039), 11th Field Hygiene Section, RAMC, who died at sea on 30 March 1942. He is commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial.
Family memories are that he was on a troopship at the time, but nothing further is known.
Any ideas how I can find out more?

    Thanks

HI I have found that Victor was aboard the Muncaster Castle when itwas torpedoed by U-68 and sunk off Monrovia. Unfortunately he was one of the 24 who perished of the complement of 353.
