A very rare picture of a Comet Command tank with a dummy 95mm. (no breech block etc. in turret) just five radios, Queens Bays CO's command tank and link half track.

They got hammered about too much, not good for radios.

I have just been informed by the radio op. of the command tank that the power traverse had been disconnected and locked, massive leather padding in the turret, extra seating, extra water tanks and a ladder for the CO.!!!
This was from experience gained in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
Very important that the radios were in perfect nick and on net at all times.

    .

I though tanks were not exactly the more spacious of working space , and not the most smooth ride either

..a freind of my dad in viet nam said all divisional apcs lined the entire floor of their rigs with cases of budweiser ...for protection from road mines ..or in case it was hot that day and they got thirsty , the beer was warm but it was still quite wet i guess and the floor armour had to be replenished almost daily ..

    Rare Pic.

Unfortunately Woody mate beer cans hadn't been invented in our day and the Egyptian Stella beer came in glass bottles so if you didn't want de-tatering !!!!!! The beer glasses were cut down bottles, made by filling with oil to level required then inserting red-hot metal rod, bottle usually cracked off at that level.
