Hi to all! My name is Sergei, was born in 1989. Although I am not a WWII veteran (too young ), like many of the members here (whom I respect very much), I registered to this forum because I am very interested in WWII. I know many historical facts, I read about many battles, I know names of people that influenced the course of WWII, and still I want to know much more. And I hope the veterns here will help me. Many people think that the USA won WWII. So, among other things, I am here to understand why many people are such mistaken, and maybe try to explain, that USA's participation only hastened the victory, but not resulted it. My grandmother's stepbrother was a scout in the Red Army. He died in 2007, in the age of 85. Unfortunately, he didn't tell me any stories about his service, because I did not communicate with him often and was not strongly close to him. So, I hope to achieve my goals and to satisfy my ineterests here, and most of all, enjoy.
I hope people to understand me right. When I wrote that USA didn't won the war, I meant that USA was not the only one, and without USSR it was impossible. And as, the battle in the pacific, and the victory there, completely belongs to USA.
Hi Z, jump in and tell us what you think. Most people in this forum are well enlightened enough, and they can appreciate the Soviet position, and that WW2 was not won by the USA or the USSR or whoever alone: the Allies won. So I suppose you won't have too much trouble. The medals on the left relate to the number of posts made. The smaller, simpler medals on the right have to do with the reputation one has acquired. As you haven't gotten any yet, good or bad, you get a soap bar
Hello Sergei, and welcome to the forum. As Za stated many here understand the Soviet position during the war and know that it was a team efforts to destroy the evil that was Hitler. Did you know many American Merchant ships where prevented from being sunk by the Japanese because they where flying the Soviet banner? Anyway, jump right in.
Sergei -- Welcome! You will enjoy your time here and you will learn much. Most of us realize that winning the war required a team effort (and, arguably, a lot of bad judgment by the Axis)! Your perspective will be appreciated and respected. Cheers!
I thought it was a piece of hard candy. Welcome Zergwraith, We understand the actualities of the war and as Za R said above, the Allies won the war.
As an american I know America didnt win world war 2 single handidly. We needed JOHN WAYNE to do that LOL... hey it took many men and women from many nations to triumph over evil.... Welcome aboard friend
