Hi, Grüber is back! As promissed "a few" months ago I will now post my relics found in the Falaise pocket. Maybe you can help me to identify some stuff. I will give each photo a number so you can more easily respond. More Falaise Then & Now photo's in the thread: http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-today/24396-visited-falaise-pocket.html Photo 1 What are these things? Found them near the bridge in St.Lambert-sur-Dive. Photo 2 Photo 3 No metaldetector was used. Found everything with the MKIII eyeball! Photo 4 On the left A part of a "SdKfz" track. And on the right? Found them near the bridge in St.Lambert-sur-Dive. Photo 5 Photo 6 Most bullets and shells found on the fields close to the "gué de Moissy" Also a few on the road crossing the gué itself. And that after more then 64 years of people walking there and just like me searching for relics! Photo 7 The german folding spoon/fork combination, stamped with swatika and 1939 date. A part off a german field thelephone, the earpiece. And a part of a german mess kit, not dated. All found near the moissy gué Photo 8 Photo 9 On the right under the thelephone part a part of a gewehr panzergranate 30 I think. Photo 10 A part of a blown off metal bolt or something. Imagine the power that was needed to rip that off.......... The other thing has a 2 stamped on it and a factory mark. Photo 11 Photo 12 A german 37mm flak 18 shell. Photo 13 Photo 14 A german fork, german fitting of an Y-strap and a piece of a tool.
Great finds, Edward ! I think - but am not positive - that the items in photo 1 are the remains of small electrical batteries ( you can clearly see the carbon rods ).
Edward, welcome back...great to see you here again! I have also found lots of those things that are in photo No1. I thought they may be batteries of some sort as the core is made of carbon? Is the item (on the left) in photo No4 the burner from a field kitchen cooker? I especially like the fork/spoon combination, the handle from a mess tin amd the Y strap hook, as these were all personal items carried by individual soldiers. Can you post some close up photos of what you think is a rifle grenade?
very true John, there hard to comeby on ebay......especially with the war dept markings .....dont get fooled!
Hi guys, Happy to see you are all still here! I will make a photo of the panzergranate for our Jagdpanter44. I will also post a few photo's of the MkIII eyeball, wich is stamped with the broad arrow, but can never be sold.......... The german fork\spoon combination was a great find, but...... with the cleaning the fork broke loose from the rest. ****! Gr. Edward
