At the end of April, my brother, my nephew and I are flying to Napoli in an attempt to retrace my granddad's steps in World War II. However his army record is fairly thin on detail. It tells me he was part of the RAOC, was a storesman, mentions service in the 2 O.B.D (which I assume to be the 2nd Ordnance Beach Detachment) at the time of the Italy campaign and that he disembarked in Italy on 10th September 1943 so was presumably at Salerno. And that he stayed in Italy until June 1946. But I have no details on his campaign movements. Would anyone be able to help? Thanks in advance!
You'll need to know his units for that time period to track him. Any info on that? If you have units you can check to see if they have a website up. You can also scan through the Chronology for information. The RAOC is a British unit. You need to contact the sister site where the are people who specialise in the movements of the Rag And Oil Company's Blanket-stackers.. WW2Talk
