Howdy Folks, I asked for permission before I posted this (since it is dealing with a WWI subject). I wanted to share my new painting of the Lusitania wreck. I read a book about her sinking this spring that inspired me to paint this. This is more or less her condition back in the 1990s when explorer Bob Ballard visited the wreck. Since then she seems to have deteriorated even more so and continues to collapse in on herself. I was always fascinated (and saddened) about what the forces of nature and war can do to these mammoth ships. One of the expedition members in the 90s commented that the water around the wreck was a deep green color with very little blue. That’s the reason for the green water. I made it probably a little too green, and for sure too clear but I still like it. Thanks for letting me share it. I don’t do Facebook, so this is the only place where I post my art.
