Rockets to assist take-off gave carrier-borne planes greater speed and weight-carrying capacity; mounted on each side of the fuselage, their action lasted four seconds. Capt. C. L. Keighley-Peach, D.S.O., R.N., is here seen entering a rocket-boosted Seafire fighter of the Fleet Air Arm.
