Hi. Just joined up. My father, now deceased, was in the Royal Ulster Rifles 1939-46. He was in the 2nd battalion on D-Day, and landed at Sword beach. He managed a few days combat before receiving shrapnel wound in the shoulder and shipped back to England. Probably one of the fortunate soldiers. He never spoke a great deal about his experiences, so I am trying to fill in some of the gaps from others recollections. Will trawl through this site on occasion. But if anyone has specific knowledge on this subject will be pleased to hear.
Take a look at royal-ulster-rifles-ww2.blogspot.com and you will find the full official history of 2RUR during WW2. Hope this helps. Quis Separabit
