SAS Canesword / Swordstick

Hi guys, my first offering to the site in the way of militaria goodies. I would like opinions on this item please. My Grandfather ran a military surplus store for years and was given this in the 1980's by somebody. A few years ago I was given it and I've always been curious about it but never been able to find anything on google etc. I assume it is a unique private purchase deal as I can find nothing about it.

It is a bamboo cane with a brass tip, with a hexagonal spiked rod inside. The handle for the rod is a white metal plated with brass with a relief of the insignia of the SAS. It looks considerably older in reality than it does in the pictures.

Anyone seen anything like it before?
